Keep control as your agent gets to work
Ask your agent to prepare a renewal reminder or a customer offer for a saved audience. It can use the direct mail MCP server or the direct mail API, while you keep the campaign’s message and audience under your control.
Check the audience and run address verification before committing your mailing budget. Try the campaign in test mode first, then approve live MCP sends yourself or let a daily spend cap cover them.
Frequently asked questions
What can an AI agent do for my campaign?
Your agent can check addresses, prepare postcards and letters, quote costs and send a campaign. It can also add contacts, list saved audiences and templates, cancel eligible mail and report on mailing activity.
Which agents work with Direct Mailer?
Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code can connect through MCP using the setup instructions in the app. An agent that makes HTTP requests can also use the REST API with your key.
Can an agent spend without my approval?
Live MCP sends need your approval unless the key’s daily spend cap covers the cost. Calls made directly to the REST API follow the key’s API permissions and do not use MCP send approvals.
What if my agent repeats a send request?
The same idempotency key and request return the original result. Your agent should reuse that key when retrying, so a repeated request does not print another mailing or charge you again.
Can I test an agent without printing mail?
Yes. A test key lets your agent prepare mail and follow simulated mailing statuses with real webhook events. Nothing prints and no money leaves your balance, so you can check the workflow first.
What does agent-created mail cost?
Agent-created mail uses the same per-piece pricing as mail you prepare yourself. Printing, addressing and postage are included. Test the workflow free before adding funds and approving your first live send.
